Citizens On Patrol Mission

The City of Allen Police Department's Citizens On Patrol is a dedicated group of volunteers whose mission is to assist the Allen Police Department and the community by patrolling the streets, neighborhoods, businesses and parks in an effort to recognize suspicious activity, assist on-duty police officers, prevent crimes, establish a rapport with the Citizens of Allen, and recruit and train COP volunteers.

Citizens On Patrol Objectives

  • Deter crime with highly visible patrol and observation.
  • Perform duties that enable officers to concentrate on higher priority patrol duty.
  • Provide extra eyes and ears for the police in maintaining a safe environment within the community.

Citizens On Patrol Members
COP members are not Peace Officers, but are volunteers who partner with the Police Department to keep Allen, Texas, a safe and desireable place to live and work.

Citizens On Patrol Program Prerequisites
Allen Citizens Police Academy - Informative twelve week course on Allen Police Department structure, operations, capabilities, and police officer responsibilities and tactics.
COP Advanced Training - Instructed by Allen Police Department officers to establish the skills necessary to operate the COP patrol car and equipment while performing all assigned tasks efficiently and safely.

  • Tow Truck Standby
  • Homeland Security Inspections
  • Handicap Parking Enforcement

  • Park & Walk - Citizen Communication
  • Nuisance Abatement - Sign Removal
  • Event Support (Parades, Fun Runs, Allen USA Celebration)
  • Sky Watch Tower Observation

COP Members encourage citizens to be active in the community by attending the Citizens Police Academy and joining the Citizens On Patrol program.
